This Sunday morning, after a long week in Vegas, I have to admit that I am very glad to be back home in Virginia. I enjoyed nearly every minute of my Sin City stay- as I was awake for nearly every minute of it - but days in the desert and in the Sands left me longing for the fictitious teleporter that would beam me back to my very own boudoir. Now that I'm well rested and recharged from a good night's sleep and a great day of mountain biking, Interbike almost seems like a dream... if only it didn't leave my feet wrecked. Following are some of the highlights.
I felt like the jet set as my plane landed and I was whisked away to TI with just enough time to shimmy into my skinny jeans and sparkles and make it to dinner at the Social House. Trek-man Dean Gore wowed us with his sushi selecting skills, and we all enjoyed a smooth sake, or three. Before dinner was over we had a VIP view of the Sirens of TI (there was a lot of booty on that pirate ship), and I discovered my all-time favorite girlie drink - the Ginger Saketini. Then the Trek crew hit the strip for a stroll to the Bellagio. By the time my head hit the pillow, I'd only been awake for 24 hours. Whew! After our first night out, we took to the trails at the Dirt Demo in Bootleg Canyon. I test rode, and tried to sneak off with, the new Fuel EX. At home, I ride a Top Fuel 9.8, and now I'm ready to trade up for the stiffer redesigned suspension of the EX. I don't know the weight of the EX, but it felt lighter than my current ride, and the active braking pivot had a positively noticeable impact while I was speeding around the canyon's curves.

Ladies, I'm going to let you in on something - at InterBike, booth babes are few in number compared to the tens of thousands of guys roaming the floors. And after a day of looking at all the scenery, we found a knight in shinning "armor."

After a day indoors at the Sands, the girls from H'burg met up for some fun, starting with the Shimano 25th Anniversary Party and a sneak peak of the latest from the Collective.

From there, we took the party outside to the Desert Breeze where we cheered on our favorite racers at Cross Vegas.
OK, enough silliness. Next up, I'll have proper product preview photo blog and stories from the cage-match crit.
Viva Virginia!

So, I was cruising the web, getting excited about what's to come at this year's Interbike, when I virtually stumbled upon a list of "Interbike '06 Celebrity Sightings." It reads, Cipollini, Lemond, Merckx, Hushovd, Roll. Are you kidding me? That's like Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Porsche, and... Ford.

Sorry, Bob.
See you in Vegas!
